The Musée Carnavalet is a museum dedicated to the history of Paris. Located in two town houses in the Marais district of Paris, the museum tells the story of Paris from prehistoric times to the present day.
The story of Paris is illustrated in 100 or more rooms with each room decorated in style from the 17th to 20th centuries, showing the development and change in tastes that went with the ages.
The museum is split up in to a number of departments:
- Archaeology
- Artwork
- Furniture
- Graphics Arts Office
- Numismatics
- Objets d’Art
- Painting
- Photography
- Sculptures
- Shield

Opening Times
Open all year Tues to Sun from 10am to 6pm.
Closed Mondays, public holidays, Easter Sunday and Whit Sunday
Entrance Fee
Entrance to the permanent collections is free.
The price to enter temporary exhibitions varies.
An audio guide is also available for €5
