There are a number of Christmas markets in Paris which generally open towards the end of November and continue until after Christmas Day. They are a good way to pick up some festive decorations, regional food and drink and various arts and crafts. The best thing about Christmas markets though is they really put you in the festive mood. When the markets come to town, it is almost time to think about the family and holidays!

One of the biggest Xmas markets in Paris was located in Les Halles. However, due to renovation works in 2011 there will be no market this year. The largest will be at La Défense with some 350 traditional wooden chalets. The most popular with tourists is likely to be at the Avenue des Champs Elysées where 160 chalets will have a variety of goods on offer.
