Paris Events - What's on in Paris this weekend (5th-6th May 2012)Looks like being wet again here in Paris, but if you are looking for some Paris events this weekend, take a look at our suggestions of what's on.
Salvador Dali - The Sabater Collection Exhibition (Sat and Sun)
This weekend is the last weekend to see this temporary Salvador Dali exhibition at the Espace Dali in Montmatre, Paris. The exhibition brings together hundreds of works of art presented by Dali to his friend Enrique Sabater. For details of access and opening times, please visit the Guide2 Paris events listing. Continues until 10th May.
Antiques Fair at Place de la Bastille (Sat and Sun)
A large antiques fair at the Place de la Bastille starts today and continues until 13th May. Entrance is €8 but there are some 450 stalls offering their wares. Don't expect a bargain but worth a browse none-the-less. Full details can be found on the Guide2 Paris events listing.
See a classic Tim Burton Film (Alice in Wonderland) (Sun)
You may have noticed that Guide2Paris are big Tim Burton fans and the director's entire back catalogue of films have been broadcast at the Cinématheque Français in Paris since March. However, Sunday is the last chance to see one of these films, with a showing of Alice in Wonderland at 3pm. The Tim Burton exhibition continues until 5th August though so dont be too disappointed if you miss out.
Join the crowds to see the Presidential election results (Sun)
The French like to get engaged in politics in a sort of love/hate relationship. If you would like to experience the end of a Presidential election campaign, you can join the supporters of the two candidates on the streets of Paris to find out the results. The supporters of Nicolas Sarkozy, the incumbent, will be gathering at Place de la Concorde, whereas the likely winner, François Hollande, will be gathering at Place de la Bastille. The results are expected at 8pm officially, but some leaks tend to appear from about 6:45pm.
Visit the Grande Mosquée de Paris (Sat or Sun)
If the weather is getting you down, why not take a trip to the Grande Mosquée de Paris and treat yourself to a Hammam and a mint tea. Our correspondent, Filly di Somma, recently wrote about her experiences there so check out her article here.
Have fun whatever you do in Paris this weekend.
